Burke Bloodstock (BB) is a boutique stud based in the Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales, dedicated to breeding, selling and caring for quality thoroughbreds. We worked with David Burke and team to devise a new brand strategy and brand identity. We began the process by establishing BB's key points of differentiation, culminating in a list of core brand characteristics that would guide the brand messaging and visual identity: 'premium', 'boutique', 'diligent', 'knowledgeable', and 'established'. We then crafted a visual identity off the back of these characteristics, while also integrating the stud’s iconic ‘BB’ horse brand, as specifically requested by the client. A navy/white palette was chosen for its balance of stability, simplicity, and authority, with navy and an expanded typeface working together to add a sense of exclusivity. The boutique element of the stud was applied through a stamp-like effect on the monogram. The end product positions Burke Bloodstock as a more established, prestigious brand, all the while respecting its family-run, boutique heritage.
